Anthropic Raises $30B as AI Race Intensifies with New Enterprise Platforms

Google released a major upgrade to Gemini 3 Deep Think, its specialized reasoning mode designed to tackle complex challenges in science, research, and engineering. The enhanced model demonstrates remarkable performance across scientific benchmarks, achieving 84.6% on ARC-AGI-2, a reasoning test that measures an AI system's ability to adapt to entirely new tasks without prior training.

The upgraded model scored 48.4% on "Humanity's Last Exam" without external tools and achieved a 3455 Elo rating on Codeforces, reaching gold-medal level performance on the 2025 International Math Olympiad. In a striking demonstration of its capabilities, Deep Think identified a subtle logical flaw in a technical mathematics paper that had previously passed through human peer review unnoticed.

Google AI Ultra subscribers can now access the updated Deep Think mode through the Gemini app, while scientists, engineers, and enterprises can apply for early access to test the model via the Gemini API. The company developed the upgrade in close partnership with researchers working on real-world problems where data is often messy or incomplete and solutions lack clear guardrails.

OpenAI introduced Frontier on February 5th, an end-to-end enterprise platform for building, deploying, and managing production-ready AI agents capable of performing real work within organizations. The platform gives AI agents access to shared business context by connecting previously siloed internal applications, ticketing tools, and data warehouses, enabling them to navigate complex workflows and make decisions.

Frontier allows workers to create AI agents through a chat interface similar to ChatGPT by entering natural language descriptions of tasks and parameters. The platform provides agents with organizational skills analogous to human workers, including shared context, onboarding processes, hands-on learning with feedback, and clear permissions and boundaries. Early customers include major enterprises such as Uber, State Farm, Intuit, and Thermo Fisher Scientific.

The launch positions OpenAI to compete directly with traditional enterprise software providers, with analysts suggesting it could reshape the SaaS industry. The platform is initially available to a small set of customers, with broader rollout planned over the coming months as OpenAI refines the technology based on early deployment feedback.

February 2026 has become a critical battleground in the fight over AI regulation in the United States, following President Trump's December executive order proposing a uniform federal policy framework that would preempt state AI laws. The order directs the Secretary of Commerce to publish an evaluation by March 11, 2026, identifying state laws deemed burdensome and inconsistent with federal policy.

Multiple states including California, Texas, Colorado, New York, and Illinois have enacted significant AI regulations covering frontier model safety, employment discrimination, and consumer protection. Colorado's AI Act, originally scheduled to take effect February 1st, has been delayed until June 30th amid the federal uncertainty. The executive order also directs the Federal Trade Commission to classify state-mandated bias mitigation as a deceptive trade practice and establishes an AI litigation task force to challenge state laws.

Meanwhile, Anthropic announced it is contributing $20 million to Public First Action, a political organization supporting candidates who favor AI regulation, ahead of the 2026 elections. The company has drawn criticism from the White House for its advocacy of safety measures and regulatory oversight, highlighting deep divisions within the tech industry over how AI should be governed.
